Spanish conquistador Don Tristan de Luna first attempted to settle in Pensacola in 1559. Today, visitors are treated to the long and varied history of the city, a history painted by the Spanish, French, British, Confederates and Americans who all flew their flags here. Each year the city celebrates the founding of Pensacola during the Festival of Five Flags. Activities include parades, dances and an array of seafood.
